High demands are placed on coatings for surfaces in the food industry. These concern compliance with the special regulations and ordinances for direct or indirect contact with food, as well as resistance to strong cleaning agents and production-related stresses. In addition, ceilings and walls must generally be protected against mould and bacterial infestation.<\/p>\n

The requirements for surfaces in food processing plants are very different, depending on the industry. In production rooms with low temperatures, permanently high humidity and daily cleaning intervals, such as in the meat industry, a dense, highly chemical-resistant coating is required. In production rooms with only intermittent high humidity, such as in a bakery, a coating with high vapour diffusion is required to avoid dripping water in the ceiling area.<\/p>\n

The certified hygienic coatings developed and produced by FAKOLITH are primarily used in the food processing industry, such as bakeries, butchers, dairies, cheese dairies, beverage production, breweries and bottling plants, distilleries, wineries and fish processing. But also in large kitchens, the catering trade and canteens. When looking for a suitable, resilient coating for production, cooling and storage rooms, the term “food-safe” is often used colloquially. But: The term “food-safe” is not defined. In Europe, the requirements of Regulation (EU)10\/2011 and Regulation (EC) 852\/2004 apply to surface coatings.<\/p>\n

In order to narrow down the product selection, we have created branch-related recommendations with the products that are usually used in the respective branch.
