In the case of organic substrates, e.g. sheetrock, gypsum plaster, removal is always recommended in the case of intensive mould and bacterial infestation. In the case of mineral substrates, damp cleaning of the substrate and subsequent treatment of the surface with an antifungal solution is a practicable, cost-oriented, efficient measure to remove mould from the wall. This is also an initial measure that can be carried out in the short term to reduce the health risk to the occupants. Removing mould on wallpaper is not possible by cleaning and applying an antifungal solution. The wallpaper must be removed and the wall underneath checked for possible infestation.
