Who is allowed to remediate mold?
So far, there is no generally recognised qualification for mould remediation. BUT: Anyone who carries out commercial mould remediation must comply with the Bio- and Hazardous Substances Ordinance and have sufficient expertise.
The Biological Substances Ordinance:
It applies to activities involving biological agents. Microorganisms are biological agents that can cause infections, sensitising or toxic effects in humans.
The Hazardous Substances Ordinance:
It regulates the protective measures for employees during activities with hazardous substances. The purpose is to protect processors and other persons as well as the environment from substance-related damage.
A “sufficient” level of expertise:
The requirements for specialist knowledge are defined in TRBA 200. These include:
- Suitable vocational training
- > 2 years of professional experience in this occupation
- Competence in occupational health and safety
- Specific further training measures
As the employer, the company carrying out the work is responsible for the correct implementation of the Ordinance on Biological and Hazardous Substances. Before carrying out the remediation work, a hazard analysis must be carried out. If the area to be remediated is < 0.5m², the above requirements do not have to be met.
Avoid dust exposure at all costs!
The application of the FAKOLITH 3-phase system is safe for people, effective in its effect and efficient in its method. No dust exposure!
These are the advantages of using the FAKOLITH 3-phase system:
1. Wet cleaning without dust exposure: Clean substrate with FAKOLITH FK 12, diluted 1:4 with water.
2. Renovate the substrate instead of removing it. Apply FAKOLITH FK 14 Substrate Renovation generously.
3. Protect the surface from mould:
FAKOLITH DISPERSION PAINT with BIO.FILM-STOP technology protects the paint film from mould and bacterial attack.
