In case of flood damage: cleaning and avoidance of mould and bacteria infestation
Quick help with flood damage
Act simply, quickly and safely with our system products for cleaning, avoidance of mould and bacteria infestation and restoration of moisture damage. Our flyer briefly provides you with the most important information on quick help at a glance.
After the water has receded, action must be taken quickly!
After clearing out furniture, carpets and other inventory, cleaning of ceilings, walls and floor surfaces should be started immediately. Action must be taken quickly, because the impurities from the waste water provide an optimal breeding ground for microbial infestation. Especially in the summer months when temperatures are warm and humidity is high, there is a risk that surfaces indoors will become infested with mould and bacteria within a short period of time.
Cleaning mould, bacteria and oily contaminants.
Mould and bacteria form musty odours. By cleaning with FAKOLITH FK 12, mould and bacteria are combated. At the same time, the smell of mustiness, which is caused by metabolic processes, is significantly reduced.
After a flood, there are also oily substances in the service water, which become visible on wall, ceiling and floor surfaces after the water has receded. They are due to damaged oil tanks, vehicles carried along by the water or even defective sewage pipes and spread an unpleasant odour as well. Cleaning ceilings and walls with FAKOLITH INTENSIVE CLEANER dissolves grease from the substrate. We recommend the use of a cleaning kraken for the professional cleaning of oily substrates with FAKOLITH INTENSIVE CLEANER.

Avoid mould and bacteria infestation at all costs
Spores that have already formed in the substrate are not completely destroyed by cleaning. For this purpose, the application of an anti-fungal solution is necessary after cleaning the substrates. If possible, this work step should be carried out before or at the same time as setting up drying devices. The products FAKOLITH FK 14 and FAKOLITH AQUA.SILAN.CONTROL penetrate the substrate and destroy fungal mycelium and bacteria.

During the dry-out phase, the substrate should remain as “open” as possible in order not to impair the capillary transport of moisture. We recommend removing substrates irreversibly damaged by the water, e.g. sheetrock, gypsum plaster and wallpaper.
In summary: The application of the above-mentioned system products is simple and effective. Decide on variant 1 or variant 2. The application means value retention and protection for your building:
Now you have time for
- clarifying the damage with the insurance company,
- planning and implementing the concrete restoration measures,
- consulting an appraiser,
- and, of course, for the complete drying out of ceilings and walls.
