Hygienic coatings for the food industry and healthcare sector
In the production, storage and transport of foodstuffs, industry-specific hygiene concepts are required to ensure that the statutory regulations of the Food Hygiene Ordinance (LMHV) are consistently implemented. Against this background, FAKOLITH specialises in the development of surface coatings for bakeries, butcheries, wineries, breweries, dairies, cheese factories and other sectors of the food-producing industry.
Our durable hygienic coatings for production, refrigeration and storage rooms as well as the chemical-resistant sealants for tank, vat and silo coating, provide a high level of safety and protection during the production, storage and transport of food.
FOODGRADE or BIO.FILM.STOP ?
If food comes into direct contact with a coating, it must be ensured that no toxic ingredients migrate into the food. These coatings must be tested in Europe according to VO (EU) 10/2011 for direct contact with food. Suitability is confirmed by a detailed manufacturer’s declaration of conformity. FAKOLITH products that are certified for direct contact with food have the additional designation “FOODGRADE”. Some products are additionally certified according to the American standard FDA 21 CFR 175.300 and as cleanroom coating by the Fraunhofer Institute.
FAKOLITH hygiene coatings, which require maximum surface protection against microbial infestation due to their area of application in damp rooms, contain an active film protection. They comply with the requirements of VO (EU) 852/2004 and make a significant contribution to maintaining and optimising operational hygiene in food-producing companies. In production, refrigeration and storage rooms of food-producing companies, there is already a risk of mould and bacterial infestation on hygienically critical surfaces even if the air humidity is only increased in phases. In order to protect these surfaces during the production periods between cleaning intervals, FAKOLITH hygienic coatings are equipped with BIO.FILM.STOP technology. The selected combination of active substances and high-quality binders creates a paint film with maximum qualitative and quantitative resistance to biofilm with tested effectiveness against mould (DIN EN 15457:2014-11), bacteria (ISO 22196:2011-08) and viruses (ISO 21702:2019-05).
Coatings for the healthcare sector
Hospital infections are a major problem for patient safety. There is a high risk of infection, especially for people with weakened immune systems. FAKOLITH hygienic coatings with BioFilmStop technology offer reliable protection against viral and bacterial infections on surfaces in hospitals, doctors’ surgeries, public institutions, retirement homes and other areas of healthcare and public facilities. Surface coatings with BIO.FILM.STOP technology significantly reduce the risk of infection through cross-contamination in immunocompromised individuals. The bacterial load on the surface is reduced by up to 99.98% with FAKOLITH BIO.FILM.STOP technologies.
