Hygiene coatings for food producing companies

High demands are placed on coatings for surfaces in the food industry. These concern compliance with the special regulations and ordinances for direct or indirect contact with food, as well as resistance to strong cleaning agents and production-related stresses. In addition, ceilings and walls must generally be protected against mould and bacterial infestation.

The requirements for surfaces in food processing plants are very different, depending on the industry. In production rooms with low temperatures, permanently high humidity and daily cleaning intervals, such as in the meat industry, a dense, highly chemical-resistant coating is required. In production rooms with only intermittent high humidity, such as in a bakery, a coating with high vapour diffusion is required to avoid dripping water in the ceiling area.

The certified hygienic coatings developed and produced by FAKOLITH are primarily used in the food processing industry, such as bakeries, butchers, dairies, cheese dairies, beverage production, breweries and bottling plants, distilleries, wineries and fish processing. But also in large kitchens, the catering trade and canteens. When looking for a suitable, resilient coating for production, cooling and storage rooms, the term “food-safe” is often used colloquially. But: The term “food-safe” is not defined. In Europe, the requirements of Regulation (EU)10/2011 and Regulation (EC) 852/2004 apply to surface coatings.

In order to narrow down the product selection, we have created branch-related recommendations with the products that are usually used in the respective branch. Depending on the conditions on the object, the application of another coating from our product portfolio may of course also be suitable.

Fleischindustrie

Hygienic coatings for the meat industry

High humidity and daily cleaning require resilient surface coatings. Short downtimes and low temperatures are other factors to consider when planning renovations in meat processing plants. >> LEARN MORE

Bäckereien

Hygienic coatings for bakeries

In bakeries, the opening of the ovens causes a strong increase in humidity and a high steam load. This leads to a brown discoloration and dripping of water in the ceiling area, which must be avoided. >> LEARN MORE

Getränkeindustrie

Hygienic coatings for the beverage industry

In production rooms in the beverage industry, the air humidity averages 70-90%. This condenses on the surface of ceilings and walls. There is a risk of mould and bacteria infestation. >> LEARN MORE

FOODGRADE coatings for food tanks

If food is stored in tanks, silos or basins, it must be ensured that no toxic substances migrate from the tank coating into the food. >> LEARN MORE

Surface coatings for cold storage rooms and storage rooms

Rust, mould, bacteria and flaking coatings in commercially used cold stores are objected to by the food inspectorate and should be avoided. >> LEARN MORE

Biofilm

What does BIO.FILM.STOP mean?

Biofilm is the term used to describe a complex community of microorganisms on surfaces. If the formation of a biofilm is not stopped, this can lead to the contamination of open food. >> LEARN MORE

Foodgrade

What does FOODGRADE mean?

In our product portfolio, the term FOODGRADE stands for inks and coatings that are developed and produced by FAKOLITH for applications in direct contact with food. >> LEARN MORE
